SWINE FLU!!

What can I do to prevent catching it?

The virus is spread through the air when people cough or sneeze. There are some basic measures that you can take to reduce the risk of infection. Face masks will have little place in preventing the spread of the virus but you can:

  • Cover you mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, using a tissue whenever possible.
  • dispose of dirty tissues promptly and carefully - bag and bin them.
  • avoid non-essential travel and large crowds of people whenever possible.
  • Maintain good Hygiene - washing hands frequently in soap and water protects against picking the virus up from surfaces and passing it on
  • clean hard surfaces (e.g. kitchen worktops, door handles) frequently, using a normal cleaning product
  • make sure your children follow this advice.

CATCH IT. BIN IT. KILL IT!!!

For more information check out the University’s webpage on swine flu http://www.ulster.ac.uk/swinefluinfo/

The Northern Ireland Swine Flu Helpline Number is 0800 0514 142. Callers to the helpline will be put through to someone who will be able to provide advice and guidance for anyone displaying flu-like symptoms.

31/3/09 - Physical Access at University Of Ulster. What do you think?

Campus Consultations on Disabled Access

Each year, Physical Resources and Student Support team up to review disabled access for students to each of our campuses. Last year, as you can see from the list below, a number of improvements were identified and will be in place soon.

We invite you to start the ball rolling on this year’s consultation, by letting us know of any issues which you feel need to be addressed in order that we can try to make  each campus is as accessible as possible.

With buildings as large and diverse as our own, it is not a simple task to ensure easy access to all areas. We are continuing to work towards that goal and the information which you can provide from your own experience is vital in making progress.

Please give details of the improvement you would like to recommend please click here to complete the feedback form and send your reply to Jan Elliott by email at ja.elliott@ulster.ac.uk. Feedback forms must be completed by 25th May 2009.
